Sony manager: 'the playstation 3 still has a good future'

Speaking to the dpa news agency, ryan emphasized that sony still plans to continue with the playstation 3 for a long time to come. The playstation 3 has been on the market since 2007, many expect a successor next year. Why is sony releasing several completely new brands of games for it?

Ryan: "we released the playstation 2 in 2000, and to this day it is selling very well in some markets around the world. The playstation 3 came out in 2007, so it certainly still has a bright future. The new games show that we have confidence in the platform. I can not comment on a new playstation."

Sony has its own mobile console with the playstation vita, but still wants to bring older games to android smartphones. Why?

Ryan: "the market for both smartphones and tablets is growing fast, and users like to play with them. Here the playstation can play a role. There are a lot of games for android, but to be honest, many of them are not very good. With us, the users know that they can expect a certain level of quality."

Don’t be afraid that the playstation vita will suffer from in-house competition?

Ryan: "I get asked that a lot. We will be successful with the playstation vita as long as we offer a significantly better gaming experience than smartphones. We have a strong software offering for the christmas season."
